Love these decorations on the metal security gates of the former Phoenix Assurance Company buidling on St Vincent Stret in Glasgow. It was designed in a Modern Classical style by Alex D. Hislop and was constructed in 1912.

Have collected a bunch more #doorKnockers from my dog walks, despite the repetitious routes -- apparently a number of wreaths came down and revealed more fun. Maybe two batches today because News Continues Stressful? First up, a carnival of lions!!! 8/x

A weary door for the weary traveller in #Görlitz.

As you might guess, this hotel, Görlitzer Hof, has seen better days. Built in the late 1870s, it closed its #doors in 1992 and has been a lost place ever since. However, the #door to a brighter future may soon open again! A local investor has purchased the building and plans to restore it – just as they have successfully done with other buildings in Görlitz – though perhaps not as a hotel. Let's hope they preserve the marvellous door ornaments.
Until then, you might be able to explore the site on a Lost Places tour led by a local historian. According to a recent newspaper article, tours could include this building from March 2026, though I couldn't find any info on the tour operator's website. If it is included, it must be a stunning sight, with many of the #hotel rooms still featuring their original wallpapers and curtains.
