Am I the only one that's always been disappointed [1] that the word `umlaut` doesn't actually contain a letter with an umlaut?

[1] Or "disappöinted", as the case may be.

Opinion: Klaus Meine, of Scorpions fame, has the second-most perfect name for a singer in a metal band.

The absolute best, of course, is Udo Dirkschneider, of Accept. However, I've always been perplexed at how it's possible there's no umlaut in it.

Huh? I always thought Røde was a Danish company, and pronounce it in Danish. But apparently it's pronounced like the English "road".

Makes me think of how I can't help but pronounce Mötley Crüe in German. But in this case I know it's wrong, and just do it because I think it's funny

The funniest "metal umlaut" thing though is the (obviously not Swedish) metal band Tröjan, which because of the umlaut literally means "the sweater" in Swedish.

Gratuitous diacritics. #MetalUmlaut But does this typeface really have diaeresis looking like that, or did the logo designer not know how to get an Ö and just added two small rectangles on top of the O?
I’m reading Ricardo Semler’s book “Maverick!”, and this part made me chuckle. #metalumlaut
