Stefania Cappa’s interview with Belve Crime was cancelled, as she had requested a €15,000 fee (but the public service does not recognize compensation for protagonists of black cases).

The Garlasco case is raging on television, but it will not land on “Belve Crime,” the spin-off of the interview program hosted by Francesca Fagnani. The broadcast had sought to bring Stefania Cappa, cousin of Chiara Poggi, to primetime on Rai2, but the Milanese lawyer, now 41 years old, reportedly requested a fee of around 15,000 euros to answer the journalist’s probing questions.

The broadcast, according to the Davide Maggio website which anticipates the news, has decided not to pay the Cappa the high fee. This decision was likely also born from the desire to avoid controversy; public service has in recent years chosen not to pay compensation to the protagonists of black crime cases.

Informant in the investigations
It is worth remembering that Stefania Cappa is not under investigation for Chiara Poggi’s crime but, as with her sister Paola, she was only heard as a person with knowledge of the facts during the course of the investigation. Stefania Cappa has been registered in the Milan Bar since 2012, specializes in sports law, and is married to Emanuele Airoldi, equestrian champion and nephew of publisher Angelo Rizzoli.

“Belve” will return on air on Tuesday, April 7th, after the standard episodes, “Crime” episodes will be broadcast. In recent days, the interview with Raffaele Sollecito, linked to the murder of Meredith Kercher, the English student killed in Perugia in 2007, has already been recorded. Last year Fagnani interviewed Massimo Bossetti, who is in prison for the murder of Yara Gambirasio.

Who is Amanda Knox and why is she facing a slander trial?

Amanda Knox is again defending herself in an Italian court in a slander case that has the potential to remove the last legal stain against her. It follows her exoneration nine years ago in the 2007 murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Despite her exoneration and a murder conviction against a man whose DNA and footprints were found at the scene, doubt about her role persists in Italy and among members of Kercher’s family. Part of the reason for this is the slander case against Knox for wrongly pinning the murder on the owner of a bar where she worked.
