Happy #Mercuralia to all who celebrate and especially to Mercurius, whom we honour on 15th May.

I wrote a little shortie in which his Greek counterpart Hermes helps a shepherd out during lambing season to observe his special day:

#OTD, 15 May, it's the #Mercuralia, a Roman festival in honour of Mercurius in his function as the god of commerce. Merchants would sprinkle their heads, their ships and merchandise, and their businesses with water taken from the well at Porta Capena in Rome. The water was said to bring good fortune for trade. King Numa met at the same spring with his goddess girlfriend who gave him all his great ideas for early Rome, isn't that right, @phistorians?

It's the #Mercuralia today, so this #PhallusThursday we admire #Mercurius and his Four Cock Hat!

WE  lift up our hearts to the great wing-footed God Mercury on this day in mid-May when Mercury traditionally leaves stodgy Taurus and  wing...

It's the Day of Hermes aka Mercurius Day aka #Wednesday! 🐏

#OTD, 15 May, it's the #Mercuralia, a Roman festival in honour of Mercurius in his function as god of commerce. This year it coincides with the birthday of Apollon. #Hermes and #Apollon are half-brothers and love each other dearly:
"And Hermes loved the son of Leto continually, even as he does now."
