'Live It Up is as much a chronicle of the band’s long history as it is a love letter to a period when creativity was deemed a worthy investment in the lucky country’s future – when five misfits, without a lick of interest in fame or a conventional haircut between them, could pursue their pub rock hobby to the point of international stardom.' https://www.themonthly.com.au/march-2026/noted/live-it-mental-anything-story?utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=socialflow #music #film #art #mentalasanything

The Mentals were pretty big in their native Australia, I gather, but they were harder to find up here in Canada. I think I found this album in a vinyl discount bin and snapped it up. This song's fun to sing, even if I can't hit all the falsetto notes on the chorus any more.

Mental As Anything - L'amour No More

Why wasn't this a double-sided hit??? This track was the flip side of "Berserk Warriors", released in Australia in 1981 on a Regular 45, K8594. You'd have to be an optimist with a sense of humour to describe "Berserk Warriors" as a big hit...but, I'd suggest that, if radio had played this flip side, it could have been a double-sided hit and acheived higher chart positions. The track remained an obscure flip side until it was included on their 1993 compilation album, "Chemical Travel". It was written by band member Reg Mombassa, who must have been taking a break from designing T shirts at the time. *** If you like my channel, why not SUBSCRIBE?
