One of the stim projects I've been doing has been handsewing these reusable period pads from old cotton undies (for the exterior) and ruined sweatpants (for the absorbant layers)

Stitched with thrifted/2nd hand thread & needles using overlock stitch

Rinse them well with tepid water then launder normally, stripping every several months as needed. Takes approx 1hr to make 1 pad by hand this way

A really excellent discussion on reframing #menstrual cycles by Dr Chi #Eziefula (starts about 4 mins in to 24 mins). She understands the cycle as a fantastic tool of insight into one's overall health.

We had a wonderful Menstrual 🛖 at dark 🌑 last night. Of course Indigenous cultures tend very frequently to make women's cycles an organising principle of cosmology -- the problem is our bereft culture and xtianity silencing and suppressing such knowledge of our own bodies.

Christine will talk about the evolution of her art practice including #bodypainting, #performance #art, #anthropology, experimental #archaeology, #menstrual blood, red #ochre, #protest and pottery.
In 1986 Christine discovered the Radical Anthropology Group. Although she didn’t know it, she was was already part of a female cosmetic coalition, The Neo Naturists, body painted performance artists. This is the illustrated story of her journey, via different disciplines, including the classes, and how they influenced her art and life.
