Happy birthday to Russian #chemist Dmitri Mendeleev (1834 – 1907) who published the periodic table. Born in Siberia, the youngest child of a large family, his father was a school principal until he lost his sight & job. His mother then restarted her family’s abandoned glass factory to support them. His father died & factory was destroyed by fire. Despite economic hardship, 13 year old Mendeleev attended the Gynasium in Tobolsk.🧵

The periodic table organizes all the known elements by atomic number, which is the number of protons in each atom of the element. This version of the table, which draws on data compiled by astronomer Jennifer Johnson from Ohio State University, shows our current understanding of how each element found on Earth was originally produced. Most of them ultimately have cosmic origins. Some elements were created with the birth of the universe, while others were made during the lives or deaths of stars. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will help us understand the cosmic era when stars first began forming. The mission will help scientists learn more about how elements were created and distributed throughout galaxies. The related Tumblr post is here. ||

😁😉😁 #kimia #mendeleev #rusia
In 1869, Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev showed how to organize the known elements by their atomic weights and similarity of properties, and thereby predicted the properties of eight elements that had not yet been discovered. #Poetry #Science #History #Chemistry #PeriodicTable #Mendeleev (https://sharpgiving.com/thebookofscience/items/p1869.html)
