My great-grandparents, Winnie and Guy. They had 10 children - four of them boys, I remember as a kid visiting her farmhouse in Northern MN and seeing those pics on the piano. The big one is of my grandmother’s little brother, Marvin.
All the boys were called up and served during WWII. Marvin was sent to Europe as a teenager, and died in battle at the age of 20. He’s buried in Lorraine American Cemetery in Saint-Avold, France.
On this #MemorialDay Weekend, I’ll be pausing to remember the ultimate sacrifice he and over half a million American servicemen & women have made since our country was founded.
Even though we as a country sometimes fall short, may we always seek to live up to the ideals they fought to preserve. #MemoryEternal
