Catherine O'Hara dies at 71

Catherine O'Hara has died at 71. The Emmy-winning actor was known for her roles on “SCTV,” “Schitt's Creek,” and the two “Home Alone" films. Her agency, CAA, announced she died2 Friday at her Los Angeles home after a brief illness. O'Hara was a Canadian-born actor who gained fame through Toronto's Second City Theatre. She was also one of the key stars of the sketch comedy show “SCTV." Her career spanned decades, and she was celebrated for her comedic brilliance in films including “Beetlejuice" and “Best in Show.” She won an Emmy for “Schitt's Creek” and got Emmy nominations for late-career roles in “The Last of Us” and “The Studio.”

There is an excellent #Obituary for #CharlieKirk going viral on social media. As someone who enjoys #Genealogy, I've read more than a few obituaries, so I added a bit of my own text to it:

"Charles James Kirk, 31, died on Wednesday from a gunshot to the neck at a Utah Valley University campus event, just as he was trying to deflect a question about mass shootings by suggesting they were largely a function of gang violence.

He died with a net worth of $12 million, which he made by espousing horrific and bigoted views in the name of advancing Christian Nationalism. The foundation of his empire was the group he co-founded and led, Turning Point USA, which is a key youth-recruitment arm of the MAGA movement. Kirk was able to launch Turning Point at the age of 18 because he received money from Tea Party member Bill Montgomery, right-wing donor Foster Feiss, and his own father Robert, also a prolific right-wing donor who was involved in the construction of Trump Tower.

After being rejected by West Point, Kirk attended only one semester at Chicago-area Harper College before dropping out when the classwork got too difficult for him. In May 2021, he married Wella-blonde Erika Frantzve, a fellow podcaster. Since his death, she has done her best to monetize and mourn his passing by making as many appearances as possible on TV news and on other podcasts.

He was an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct.

He had children, as do many vile people."
