Today in "why should you make a swatch and then wash it before knitting/crocheting": I knit a test swatch, simple stockinette in a superwash wool/polyamid/bamboo, then washed it so I would know the somewhat stitches/cm.

It shrank. I had expected it to grow. #FibreArt #knitting #MelindreaMakes

I finished my socks! They're not perfect, but 1) they're the first knitting project I've finished after starting knitting seriously (I've crocheted for a long time) around January 12th

2) They're still warm, and not like anyone's going to look too closely at them ...

Woot! I'm so pleased with how this is turning out! #MelindreaMakes #knitting #socks

Y'all, so pleased! I started knitting seriously (went to a local course) less than a month ago and am working on my first pair of socks! (I'm skilled at crochet, so while not all skills are transferable, my tension is better than many newbies, and I know how to figure out how to read patterns).

This is the beginning of the cuff! #knitting #FibreArt #MelindreaMakes

because I feel the need to share my (self-inflicted!) pain ... I'm working on a wrap-around shawl. It needs to be, oh, 240-250cm from tip to tip. I am making it with crochet cotton thread and a 1.75mm hook.

After 22 rows (depicted, a full repeat), it is 60cm from tip to tip >.> #crochet #FibreArt #MelindreaMakes

Btw, this is the shelf-liner lace I made for my aunt. A pattern from the 40s, using 1mm hook and very fine cotton yarn (aka very thick thread <.<) #Crochet #MelindreaMakes
Made a lace-weight cotton square! Now I just need to decide what I could make of this pattern ... #MelindreaMakes @fibreart
Mercerized cotton, lace weight (slightly thinner than a #10 crochet cotton in the US) using a 1.5mm hook.

This was intended to be used as part of a cap, but the size (due to the yarn) ended up way too mall.

So now I need to figure out what I can do with this pattern instead!

Now that I've come to terms with my little oopsie (thinking I was doing celtic weave when it was cables ...), I'm working on a prototype for the shawl pattern that combines the weave and cables.

Left image (more blues) shows the cables, and was a WIP image of my spouse's shawl.

Right image shows the prototype and I haven't gotten to the cables yet, so instead the celtic weave is most shown off.

The repeat will be blocks of dc-dc-arrow-dc-dc separating celtic weave and cables. #MelindreaMakes

I made a cross pendant that I'm quite pleased over. It's quite simple while also being impactful. The 5 larger stones are 10mm rivolis, the middle is an 8mm chaton, the seed beads are 15/0, and the crystals (around the centre and on the baille) are 3mm bicones (in original rondelles. #MelindreaMakesJewelry #MelindreaMakes
