It’s been a busy yet productive weekend. Yesterday, Mum and I had the pleasure of meeting Mitch Tambo, whom we both deeply admire. Today, we attended the Lions Club of Taylors Lakes picnic, where we had a chance to speak with Alice Jordan-Baird - Labor for Gorton and Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP.

During our 30+ minute discussion, I raised key issues affecting Brimbank, including the lack of funding for disability inclusion, the State Parliamentary Petition for a "new specialist school" in Deer Park, limited social connection opportunities for LGBTQIA+ adults, and our strong opposition to Melbourne Airport’s third runway. Both Alice and Michelle were receptive to the issues we raised.

We urged them to increase funding for disability support organisations in the West (including GenWest), provide resources to Brimbank City Council for inclusion programs for disabled and queer adults, improve road infrastructure—particularly Taylors Lakes' notorious roundabouts—and collaborate across all levels of government to ensure our communities receive the necessary support to thrive.

I will never stop fighting for meaningful change in our community.

This week I wrote to #bencarroll, following up on my previous email, regrading the increasing violence in our neighbourhood. I hope this time he acknowledges the genuine fear of his constituents and isn't too busy now as Deputy Premier, to acknowledge us.

"Dear Mr Carroll,

I write to you today to follow up on my correspondence dated 30.09.23 and attached below. As of today, I have still not received a reply from you with regards to the traumatising incident, that occurred in Keilor. Many are still trying to cope with the events of that day, but worse still, since I wrote to you we have experienced a second shooting; which happened to occur just two streets away from where I live, and the fatal hit and run of a 16 year old boy in Taylors Lakes.
Residents are terrified! We rightfully want to know what our government is doing to protect us and our families and it is unfathomable to me, that you have remained silent on the issue and failed to reach out, or even acknowledge residents impacted by these violent attacks in our suburban streets. Are you now too busy to address your own constituents?

I sincerely hope that you consider meeting with these impacted communities as I originally invited you to do, but at the very least, I hope to receive a reply from you this time.
