Meta progression in roguelites was fun for a while, but it's starting to feel unrewarding
ughhh i do not like how things are unlocked though
first, you have to complete a challenge ("kill 3000 enemies with lightning damage"), and that's fun
then, you have to pay a certain amount of the game's meta/persistent currency, "silver", to unlock it, which so far has been rare enough to let me buy about 25% of the things i've unlocked so far, and that's meh
plus… to unlock new characters you also have to have unlocked a prerequisite item, so it's challenge+silver+challenge+silver, and that's boring…
and… you also get character skins with silver, which means you have no reason to get one until you've unlocked all the items with gameplay effects…
hopefully the upgrade which increases the amount of silver earned (paid with silver) will make this less of a problem?
megabonk reminds me of risk of rain in a good way so far
unsurprisingly, one the first items i unlocked are the lens-maker glasses from risk of rain
