#MedicineForTheBlues 🏳️‍🌈 is a 1920s gay love story. Jimmy Harper, an ambitious young jazz piano player, had to learn to accept his homosexuality. When young Dr. Carl Holman fell in love with him, it forced Jimmy’s awareness and embrace of his attraction to other men. Yet this story is set in 1923 when both men had to remain in the closet to the rest of society.

#MedicineForTheBlues 🎶 is set in the 1923, as the KKK was growing in influence politically and socially. The 1920s KKK was rabidly anti-Catholic, demonizing immigrants of Italian descent and other immigrants who might be Catholic, fearing that the Pope and the Church wanted to take over the United States. (Wild conspiracy theories are nothing new!)
Now, however, the majority on the US Supreme Court is Catholic, and just today, for the first time, an American was named Pope.
O, the irony! #books
