Two years ago, to the hour, I took my first pill of Estrogen, starting #HRT. Back than as #DIYHRT, today with #OfficialHRT.

It’s been a wild ride, and a mostly enjoyable one at that.

I’m definitely much happier, emotionally more balanced, more social, just in every way (except for physical strength and being cold all the time) a better version of myself. I love it! 😊

So, back on the train to Den Bosch.

A few more details: They were willing to believe my height and weight and accepted that (😊), we were talking procedures and that I want a full vagionplasty and the other further stuff.

Essentially I’m now on three further waiting lists:

1. I have to have a conversation with their own psych (​​) to make sure that I really know that I want it I guess, which might happen in June or so. Supposedly that is just one appointment that can be a call.

2. Because I also want facial surgery there will be a separate intake later for that, but it shouldn’t affect the timeline afterwards.

3. Once the psych has given the okay, they’ll put me on the actual, actual, definitely for real this time, waiting list for the actual surgery. That is the waiting list that was until recently 14 months, but is seemingly shrinking significantly at this point, currently at a year and they expect it to go down further but can’t tell yet.

In any case, it will at least be more than a year until the actual surgery, so… ​​

So I missed a call from the university hospital in Nijmegen about half an hour ago that they moved the call that we will have on Thursday (about which I had no fucking idea that it was scheduled) from 09:something to 11:30.

Now the only thing I want from them at this time, and furthermore fitting with the fact that it was the department for plastic surgery, is a combo surgery (SRS + FFS), and I’ve been on their waiting list for the waiting list for quite a while now… So could it, be that I’ll finally make it to the actual waiting list? With enough luck, this might even mean that my birthday next month will be my last birthday with genitals in birth configuration… That would be amazing! If not, it would still mean that I’d be highly likely to get the surgery in 2027; later than I’d like, but still before turning 35. 😊

Back from my GP, for another triptorelin injection.

Truly the biggest perk of transitioning in the Netherlands: It’s one injection, every 12 weeks, no real side-effects[1], and because it’s so expensive you basically don’t get it elsewhere.

That said, since it’s a peptite, it requires somewhat unusual preperation and the person who did it today is a doctor, who clearly never dealt with it and skipped reading the instructions…

Not ideal, but in the end, it seems to have made it into my buttock and with surprisingly little pain at that, given the mess that she made when mixing…

[1]: okay the side-effects are: It’s an injection, so things can go (mechanically) wrong with that and low Testosteron also can do things that are undesirable. Aka: No real side effects.

Oh fuck, I wanted to send this out earlier, but better now than too late: If you are #trans in the #Netherlands and still on long waiting lists to start the medical track:

Tomorrow morning Psytrans will very likely open their signup (they didn’t the last two months, and the trend is that they do every third month) at 09:00:00 (SHARP!!) which will be done in a first-come-first-serve manner.

What is new is that they are now contracted with a bunch of health insurance companies, including Menzis, CZ and a bunch of smaller ones. Even if yours isn’t on the list, if you sign up now, your intake might be in January in the new year, giving you the opportunity to change beforehand.

In my case it took them about a month to give me my first diagnosis, then about 1.5 months to get a single appointment with an external psych for the second opinion, and then a very unreasonable amount of time to get an Endo, but I think I also got unlucky, because they first tried to get a contract with someone in Eindhoven which failed after a while and delayed my referal to Rotterdam. In Rotterdam they did however accept my DIY-HRT since the time for which I had blood-tests as counting for the 1-year-of-HRT requirement for a referral to bottom surgery, and Psytrans as an org was also quite supportive of it and even tried to talk my back-then GP into prescribing me blood tests.

This might very well be your best chance to get treatment fast for possibly another three months! Don’t miss out on it, if this is relevant for you and don’t assume that being a minute late will still be fine, assume that it’s gone right away! (But still check if you notice that you are late, you might still have luck!)

Psytrans just sent out an email that they are now contracting with Genderclinic.nl for #SRS and that this might be a way for some of us to get surgery quicker… I’ve now sent a response that I’m interested within 13 minutes after they sent theirs, so let’s see where this goes.

The downside would be that it would mean that I would not get FFS+SRS as a combined surgery, but as two seperate ones… Not ideal, but a small price to pay if it means that I get SRS quicker and I am not super certain that I would get approved for it in the first place if I’m honest. So definitely worth a shot.

I just saw a few things:

∘ Psytrans, my Dutch Genderclinic is now contracted with four health-insrance providers: Menzis (mine), OWM Zorgverzekeraa Zorg en Zekerheid, CZ / Ohra / Nationale Nederlanden, and ONVZ. That means you no longer need a (non-existing) restitutie-policy anymore to get full coverage from your health-insurance!

∘ Today was one of the days where they announced whether they have space and they did not have any. This sounds bad, but it means that there is a pretty good chance that they will have space next month! (Previous period was also three months between opening the list.)

⇒ If you have Genderdysphoria in the Netherlands and need an official diagnosis for access to care, you have a real chance to get a pretty reasonable offer, if you sign up on their website, on the 6th of october at 09:00:00 (sharp!!!), since it’s first-come-first-serve to get on their rather short 3 month waiting list!

(Seriously though: when I say “sharp”, I mean it. This is competitive and pretty much the only official place in NL with this kind of deal, do not be a minute late or there is a very real chance that it will be too late!)
