I’m disabled and on SSI/SNAP, and I’m running into a gap that public benefits don’t cover.
I rely on medically necessary liquid nutrition (medical food) prescribed through my clinician. When I have consistent access, it has significantly reduced severe nausea, inflammation, fatigue, and autoimmune flares. When access drops, symptoms escalate quickly and my overall stability declines.
Insurance and SNAP don’t cover this type of therapeutic nutrition, and I’m actively pursuing longer-term options. In the meantime, I’m still learning what sustainable access looks like and how long supplies realistically last.
Right now, I’m seeking short-term mutual aid to help create a buffer so I can avoid gaps in access while I gather that information and continue working on more durable solutions.
If you’re able to help, or even just reshare, I appreciate it. I’m also happy to share more context or verification privately if that’s useful.
Thank you for being part of a community that understands how many disabled people fall into coverage gaps like this.
