I would like to see the end of advertising as funding for news media. It creates malign incentives and pollutes the psychosphere. A better model is a combination of state funding and something like Patreon or The Guardian: optional subscription, open distribution. In addition any platform that makes money from displaying/redistributing other news media (Google, Facebook) should pay for it.
