This budget is a welcome change from the do-nothing outings of recent years.
But still the government that declines to tax fossil fuels in any kind of reasonable way, & continues to pour billions into the threadbare protection racket known as Aukus, cannot find funds to provide disabled, unemployed, underemployed, & old folx who depend on benefits for their livelihoods, with a livable income. Or safe homes. Or to fund public education to an adequate standard. Or public health.
Instead we remain entangled in a media schoolyard game where the fatuous spinners of bullshirt 🤡🎪🎡are accorded airtime as ‘the opposition’, while the real opposition - the Greens & independents who could actually hold Labor to account - are sidelined.
If we taxed our rentier classes equitably we could provide equitably for all. If not now, when?
I’ll always preference increment over insult but we can do so much better.

I don't know if #Swalwell is guilty of the sexual misdeeds that he is accused of but, if he is, I believe that he should be punished accordingly in a properly conducted civil and/or criminal proceeding.
What I DO NOT like is the holding of #PressConferences to indict Swalwell w/o the opportunity for him to speak in his own defense which only incites #PublicOpinion for the sole purpose of trying him in the #CourtOfPublicOpinion &, as I witnessed in this morning's press conference, the opportunity for the defense attorneys to drum up more business by soliciting other "victims" to come forward & to serve as their attorneys (for which they will not charge any up front fees but take a BIG contingency fee -- as much as 40% in CA -- in any civil judgment rendered against Swalwell.
I also dislike the notion that only women can be the victims of sexual abuse. It's certainly not as common but men can & have been such victims not only at the hands of women but other men as well.
