We also have dedicated weather stations and cameras for 🚲🚶 traffic only as well, and it's sometimes nice to look at the cameras, although they only snap one photo every five minutes. It's been snowing for some hours now again, and the 24/7 maintenance works great. This photo was snapped right now at 01:30 am, and that path has already been plowed twice today.

biking 10 km is quick and easy, even with a load on an appropriate #ebike, unless you have a major physical disability.

What is NOT easy is riding close to, or even breathing the same air as motor traffic ...
OR being forced to share slow crumbly tracks with strolling walkers and untrained dogs etc. ala Sustrans model

OR winding, narrow, hilly blind-cornered, back-roads to avoid the "hardcore cyclist" A-roads.

‪It is rather beautiful here in Oulu 🇫🇮, right now. Absolutely no filters needed at all 🤌
-20°C, wind chill -28°C.

This is one of our main cycling and walking routes (#8) and here we have a 5 km stretch with ZERO at-grade crossings with motor traffic. I repeat, it's physically impossible to meet any motor traffic here. So it is very peaceful, safe and comfortable to ride and walk completely uninterrupted. Just bliss.
