one of nine different butterfly species I sighted in my neighbourhood today - the highest number this year in a single day. This is a female Meadow Brown, ‘maniola’ genus, the only one spotted, sheltering in a hedge from a strong summer breeze.

Even though I didn't actually want to go outside today, I still was curious about the unidentified blue near my local community center from yesterday. Instead of blues, I discovered Maniola jurtina expanding its territories and now appearing just a few meters away from my home. It also was the first time I ever saw it feeding on lavender.

On top of this, C. mercuriale has claimed two new spots, whereas C. splendens migrated away from my village's main street bridge to the bridge close to my home. (More observations from this day: https://portal.mozz.us/gemini/magda.cities.yesterweb.org/oblog/2024-july-21.gmi)
