On This Day 2nd March 1999.

I-DUPD, McDonnell Douglas MD-11, Alitalia, about to taxi out to the runway after being pushed back from it's stand on the end of Pier C at Manchester Airport, 2nd March 1999.
This was a special charter, bringing Italian football team Internazionale (commonly known as Inter Milan) for a Champions League Quarter-finals match against Manchester United the following night.
United won, and I believe an Airbus A300 (a much less prestigious aircraft) picked them up.
Still better than being made to walk home!
The photo has a slight purple cast to it, I think damage caused after changing a roll of film in conditions that were less than dry.
