All this film does is prove how unworthy its subject is of a film centered around him. My ★★ review of McVeigh (2024) on Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/9wMjPj #McVeigh #Letterboxd
A ★★ review of McVeigh (2024)

Hollywood, we have to have a talk about whose stories should be told on the big screen. I’m not saying that we only need to show the life stories of saints and inspirations, mind. A number of truly great films have depicted real-life monsters, and there’s value in how we explore the dark side of humanity. But we have to stop being so obsessed with these people to the point that even Timothy Fucking McVeigh gets his own movie. The problem here doesn’t have anything to do with any notion that director and co-writer Mike Ott lionizes the Oklahoma City

>>>> nobody is throwing themselves on the gears of the machinery to even slow it down.

>> Why or not can the same thinking be applied to rationalize events in #Gaza & #Palestine?

If we make a distinction between #McVeigh and #Mangione and say the latter deserves sympathy, we ought to make a distinction between #Hamas and #Palestinians, including children throwing rocks at #IDF.

It's not just the motive. The bias is towards who you empathize with.

"The sponge-like McVeigh was an ardent X-Files fan, and after learning of the prosecution’s request to disqualify X-Files from the pool of potential jurors, he requested that his attorneys specifically include them on the jury and insisted that the defense jury-screening questionnaire include the question of whether or not the potential jurors were fans of the X-Files."

'McVeigh' Review: Has Low-Key Sociopathic Atmosphere to Spare

Alfie Allen gives Timothy McVeigh a convincing impassive surface, but the film should have dug more into the timely extremity of his alt-right ideas.
