“On 31 March, we reported that Labour had suspended Karl Turner. Turner had criticised Labour’s plan to abolish jury trials as a universal right; he’d also given an interview to independent journalist and Canary contributor Jody McIntyre.

Following his suspension, Turner tried to distance himself from McIntyre. Now, McIntyre has set the record straight”

Keir #Starmer is (nominally) the UK Prime Minister. His chief of staff was Morgan #McSweeney, who had all his key messages with Peter #Mandelson on his phone. He claims that there were no #backups of the phone.

Seriously, the main man in 10 Downing Steeet says that he had no backups. Really. 🙄

And purely coincidentally, just after Mandelson was hacked, the crucial no-backups-phone was stolen by unknown people, when there were no witnesses.

Sure, Keir. Sure. 😂 🤣

Oh…

‘In the call, #McSweeney says the phone is his work device and he has reported it to his office already to attempt to have it tracked. Though he says the phone is a “government phone”, he does not say there could be a higher risk because of his job.’

I knew something didn’t smell right last night.

Morgan McSweeney did not disclose his No 10 job in phone theft 999 call, transcripts show

In highly unusual move, Metropolitan police have released full transcript of call made by then chief of staff to PM

If I were the IT department of a government, I would be keen to ensure that if the chief of staff's mobile phone was stolen the contents could be restored from backup.

There might be backups from which a lot of clearance and some work would be needed to restore, but I'm not sure much of that material should be on a mobile phone, which are prone to being stolen.

(For what it is worth, finding a better ambassador to Trump would have been a non-trivial project)

The police in the UK think they can be trusted with facial recognition data, including destroying all images not relevant to reported crimes.

And yet, they could not be bothered to correctly document the location of the theft of the PM’s righthand man’s phone. The messages and data held on this phone were a matter of utmost national security.

Act 2 of the Muppet Show, aka #AnyoneButStarmer panic.

Act 1 was a failed return attempt by #AndyBurnham, a reheated #Blairite and twice-failed leadership candidate who quit, to be an okay mayor. Convinced that he'd finally grasped national politics, his return was blocked 'cos the next mayor would be #ReformUK.

Act 2 is open manoeuvres by #AngelaRayner, the loyal deputy to 5½ years of #Starmer / #McSweeney rightwingery.

If the #LabourParty has a future, it's not with these muppets.
