TLDR

#McPherson #strut type suspension is stupid, PARTICULARLY if you combine it with a frameless body.

McPherson designed their abomination to reduce weight and number of parts during design, relying on the frame's attachment points (see Ford's typical arch off the frame to attach shocks/struts).

When that was added to the frameless body, the ONLY thing taking the impact of the struts us the thin 2-3mm Aluminum shell of the body.
