After a wonderful #McDonaldInstitute annual national meeting in #Kingston #Ontario, we found shelter from the rain in a lovely used #book store ... and I found a few gems to keep me busy for a while.

The "Mesons and Fields" find is a real treat. Published in 1955, it will have captured the state for quantum theory BEFORE spontaneous symmetry breaking was applied to the weak and electromagnetic forces... 7 years ahead of that breakthrough.

From the #McDonaldInstitute over on #Facebook:

“Oh, it's on! 🤜🤛 Theory vs Experiment.
Tonight - 6:30 - 8:30 at the Kingston Brewing Company, 34 Clarence St. 📌
Free snacks, good company, and the Great Debate!
See you there!🤩”

If you’re in the vicinity of #Kingston tonight, drop on in for food, company, and a science showdown … whatever that is!

Underground research unlocking knowledge about the particles that make up galaxies

It inspires some of the largest, most ambitious and collaborative research endeavours of our time: the hunt for dark matter. Theorists, experimentalists and technologists push for insights on dark matter in the quest to understand the gravitational forces that hold galaxies together and probe the evolution of our universe.
