#PeteSeeger, American #folk musician and #socialist activist, was born in New York on #ThisDayInHistory in 1919. A prolific songwriter, he achieved fame with #TheWeavers in the 1940s & '50s, but was sadly #blacklisted for a while in the #McCarthyite era.

What the fuck kind of #McCarthyite bs is this?! Black students were criminally charged under a statute meant to stop #KKK from spreading hate propaganda because they put out a paper covering the unfolding nightmare in #Palestine. Charges were later downgraded, but this was nuts!
