Max Robinson was the first Black broadcast news network anchor in the U.S.

On this day in 1978 he debuted on ABC World News Tonight, where he anchored with Peter Jennings after nearly 20 years as an award-winning television reporter.

At his first job in 1959 for a local news station he had to report hidden behind a logo.
