While the perpetrator(s) of the #MaxHeadroomIncident have never been identified, everyone has always agreed they had a fair amount of technical know-how, i.e. a nerd. And given everything we see & know from the interception itself, I think they were a fan of the show. In the first place, it had only been cancelled one month before because of low ratings. (The show spoke to a very different audience than people who liked the spokesperson or talk show host.) It would've been very top-of-mind.

There was an earlier one that interrupted the #WGN news. I saw both. I was SO freaked out the 2nd time. It was bizarre.

A friend of mine who used to work in radio had a theory abt who did it, and that it was at least 2 people (maybe 3). She thinks they won't admit it until they die, because of how it would reflect on their careers & reputations. She never told me any names, though.

I suppose a lot of people "have a theory."
