Went to see Max Creek last night as they celebrated their 55th anniversary as a band. An amazing milestone and one that I have been along for the ride for (gulp) 43 of those years. They still brought the goods, and pulled out some amazing rarities from the past.

For me, one of the most special moments was when they performed the Steve Goodman classic, City Of New Orleans, which is best known from Arlo Guthrie's cover version. This was a song that they dropped in the early 80s and almost never revisit, so I was blessed to be there for it last night.

After, John Rider talked about the first year of the band when they played and rehearsed at the Mapleview Ballroom in Washington MA. Arlo and his band and friends would have big spaghetti dinners on Sunday nights and the young Max Creek would be the house band for these gatherings. A very special and emotional night for all who were there!

Went to see Max Creek at The Met in Pawtucket RI last night. Coming up on their 55th anniversary and still going strong. They paid a beautiful tribute to the late Bob Weir, sprinkling seven Bobby related tunes through their set.

Me and My Uncle, Monkey and the Engineer, Estimated Prophet, The Other One, Big River, Not Fade Away, and Sugar Magnolia!
