Kris HirstFor Today's #ArtHistory and #Archaeology #AI mashup, I imagined what Canadian artist #MaudLewis might have painted if she had seen the Wild Jungle Fowl, the progenitor of our white, nondescript chicken. Lewis (1903-1970) resided in a tiny house in Nova Scotia and spent much of her life decorating the interior of her home. Like many self-taught artists, Lewis painted her immediate daily life, emphasizing farming. #Chickens were domesticated from the wild jungle fowl at least 3,000 years ago, moving from where they originated in Polynesia.
