John McBride (Seán Mac Giolla Bhríde) died on 5 May 1916 in Kilmainham Gaol. He was executed by the British government for his participation in the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. On 21st December 1886 Maud Gonne MacBride (Maud Nic Ghoinn Bean Mhic Giolla Bhríghde) was born. She became an inspiration and muse for WB Yeats. She was a complicated character and was described as "noisily anti-Semitic."
