¿Sabían que el color amarillo característico de los personajes de Los Simpson fue una decisión de diseño tomada por Matt Groening para captar la atención de los espectadores que hacían zapping en la televisión de finales de los años 80?

En 1987 cuando se crearon los cortos para The Tracey Ullman Show una animadora llamada Gyorgyi Peluce sugirió el tono amarillo brillante y Groening lo aprobó inmediatamente bajo la premisa de que si un televidente pasaba rápidamente por los canales y veía ese destello de color sabría exactamente que estaba sintonizando la serie. Además el diseño original de los personajes incluía una particularidad anatómica constante que solo se rompe en representaciones de deidades y es que todos los habitantes de Springfield poseen cuatro dedos en cada mano excepto Dios y Jesús quienes son los únicos personajes dibujados con cinco dedos. Esta distinción visual se ha mantenido durante más de 35 años de producción estableciendo una jerarquía estética única dentro del universo de la animación de Fox.
