Mushroom screams were just the start. 🍄
Here’s a 15s snippet of a new “mathgaze” demo. It’s little bit raw, noisy, and a total departure from my usual ambient style.
I’m really curious: is this direction working for you? I need your honest thoughts.
I’d love to hear your take on it here:

𝐔𝐙𝐄𝐃𝐀 is an Italian underground rock quartet formed in 1987 in Catania, Sicily, taking their name from Porta Uzeda, a Baroque city gate in their hometown. Known for their intense, angular sound, often likened to the explosive force of nearby Mount Etna, UZEDA emerged as one of Italy’s most original independent rock acts, navigating the spaces between alternative rock, noise rock, and math-influenced dynamics.

Originally a five-piece, the band’s early activity culminated in the 1991 release of their debut LP “Out of Colours” on A.V. Arts. A tireless touring schedule across Europe, including dates in Italy supporting Lush, helped build a wider underground audience and landed the video for “Hallucinated Games” on regular rotation on Italy’s VideoMusic Channel.
After sending a demo tape to legendary musician-engineer Steve Albini, he agreed to record their second album and traveled to Italy to work with the band. The resulting album, Waters (1993), marked a defining moment in UZEDA’s sound and was internationally championed by British radio legend John Peel, who invited the band to record a session at BBC Maida Vale, one of the few Italian acts ever to do so.
Following the release of “The Peel Sessions” (1994), UZEDA signed to the influential American indie Touch and Go Records, releasing “4” (1995) and “Different Section Wires” (1998). After a period of hiatus in the early 2000s, the band reunited to record “Stella” (2006), again with Albini, for Touch and Go.
In 2019, UZEDA returned with “Quocumque Jeceris Stabit”, released via Overdrive Records in Europe and Temporary Residence Ltd. worldwide, reaffirming their ability to balance visceral power with structural precision and emotional depth.
Over more than three decades, UZEDA have earned a dedicated global following for their uncompromising approach, influential collaborations, and steadfast commitment to artistic independence, traits that have made them a touchstone of the international underground rock scene.
Their decades-long journey and partnership with Steve Albini are documented in the feature film Uzeda – Do It Yourself (dir. Maria Arena, 2024), spotlighting their DIY ethos and impact on alternative music culture.
𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐌𝐔𝐌 𝐆𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐔𝐌 (Slowing Records)
Berliner trio that explores the intersection between composition and free improvisation, blending experimental rock, electronic textures, and avant-garde influences. Their self-titled debut EP was released on April 25, 2025, via Slowing Records.
