A pregnant teen was sent away to a place that promised to help. Then they took her baby

Tucked away on the campus of Liberty University is a maternity home where young, unwed mothers go for support. But a new podcast by Wondery, Liberty Lost, instead reveals a place where vulnerable teens feel pressured to surrender their babies in exchange for scholarships. WOMEN IN PRINT.

A beautiful little address was given at the Auckland Women’s Progress League meeting by Miss #Litt, on “Motherhood,” beginning with her first experience, when taking up her work, in helping to open a #maternity home at Ashburn. Miss Litt emphasised strongly the necessity for a trained nurse and a midwife in all nursing homes, also that fees are far too high for nursing homes to be of use to the poorer classes, which should not be. Miss Litt spoke feeling of the beauty of #motherhood and deplored the light way it is so often spoken of and regarded, also how often #children appear not to be wanted, as in some boarding houses, for instance, instead of being regarded as one of God’s best gifts, and needed more now, perhaps, than at any other time to take the place of those killed in the war.
