Three years on Mastodon, that's crazy! #Mastoversary

What have I seen? Well, for a start, this place is still here, but more importantly, it still has the vibe: people *interact*, they have conversations. I like that! Here’s to many more anniversaries.

Somehow I missed the actual day, but earlier this month was my seventh #Mastoversary.

That makes me an earlier joiner (which is largely why I'm on Mastodon.social--there wasn't much else available back then). I wasn't very active early on, but neither was Mastodon or the Fediverse; I could go away for a week and still catch up on everything in my feed!

I'm very glad the rest of you joined. (OK, not *all* of you.) Even if I can't possibly keep up now.

I think I missed it, but tabletop.social has been online for 7 years now.
Happy birthday to us 🥳

We've grown in waves, swelling up in ways that broke servers, and calming down like when the tide leaves the shore bare.

Some moved on the highs, some moved during lows, and that's fine.
Some are still here 7 years later, some came back after years of inactivity, and some relocated a stone away on an instance not far away.

7 years of trying to make this place welcoming (and more than 7 mistakes along the way).

7 years of blocking the worse of what the internet has to offer, even when its not a "popular" thing to do.

We hope you still enjoy the place 7 years on.

A thought (or 7) goes to @hardcorenarrativist who was core part of the moderation team and left this world too early.

So, looks like yesterday was my Fediversary.

I made my original Mastodon account on Masto Dot Social April 24, 2022.

Three years I've been on Fedi.

It has been a good and different social media experience compared to my previous time on Twitter, Instagram, etc. I've seen less focus on getting widespread reach as an individual, with more focus on interacting and sharing.

Also, learning about tons of different music. It's been good.

Thank you to every person who follows me, likes my stuff, interacts with me, etc.

Here's to more years of decentralized nonsense from me.

Oh yes, ignore the date on my bio. My #Mastoversary for Elekk (According to Gmail) is today.

I had been on Mastodon since December of the previous year, before my admin took her ball and went home after mild criticism for saying something extremely shitty lmao
