I'm getting used to this platform. But I have my "if I ran the world" moments (yes, without knowing why it's the way it is).
Currently, the right-side menu panel on my laptop: (see below), WHY is the order: Home / Notifications / Local / Federated?
In my world, it would start with the feeds, from most defined to least: Local / Home / Federated. And then Notifications and Direct Messages.
In my version of Perfect Interface, I'd also be able to arrange them as I want.
In figuring out how to use Mastodon, and how to make it work for me, I am remembering how much I like to learn new systems - websites, software, art mediums, whatever.
It can be frustrating, but once I get some kind of foothold, I start to enjoy exploring what I can do.

I just keep going in a circle sometimes - I'm trying to follow accounts I had in my collection from the bird site. I tried loading the link from the "copy" icon, also tried just the account name, also tried @ account @ server format, and they all just send me back to the profile if they work at all, and when I click "follow," the loop starts over again.
Help me Obi Wan Mastodony! I need some help!

Aha! When you open up a toot, you can see the response, just not in my timeline (using website in browser). I was thinking Mastodon didn't show this info at all, but I see it's post-specific.
One of the many ways the platform encourages you to take a moment to make your own assessment, before seeing what all, if any, the buzz is about.
