I think other than Hearts Alive (from Leviathan), The Last Baron is my favourite song of theirs.
When I think of the truly great and epic songs, The Last Baron is right up there.
A 13 minute musical journey that goes everywhere.
Listening to ‘Crack The Skye’ by Mastodon.
I think this is a phenomenal album. In my mind the two long tracks (The Czar & The Last Baron) are the standouts, but I do really love the more traditional songs too.
There’s something about the album that makes it feel timeless. Like the songs are carved into monoliths that will outlast the universe. I might be talking rubbish, but this one feels special.
