What instances are people using to host mastodon bots? I'm obviously trying to be respectful of instances, so I don't want to pick an instance without checking what everyone else is using. Now botsin.space is dead, I'm out of ideas and Googl-ai ain't helping me.

Two things:

1. Has anyone written a thread composer app for Mastodon? I need that. I don't write a lot of threads, but when I do I really miss old Twitter's thread composer.

2. I have to admit that I am very popular with the bots of Mastodon. It seems like a lot of my well hashtagged posts get immediate pings but they're always from robots. Is that happening to everybody?

So far @AltTextHealthCheck is the only bot I have built that hasn't really ever broken. And it almost has 500 followers!

Im looking for more bots like @HourlyOtters, that post pictures of various animals on regular intervals.

I'm up for anything, turtles, birds, komodo dragons, whatever.

Even justvpixelfed accoubts of animal pictures would be cool (thanks, activitypub!)

(why are we talking about bots? Twitter says it is closing their API except for paid users beginning Feb 9, which affects a lot more things than shitty troll accounts, news updates, or just fun stuff. Many civic services, alerts, weather warnings, transport, traffic, academic accounts, research, museums, schools, etc. will be out of luck, as well as (probably?) sites that use Twitter sign-in or authentication for any reason.)
