One way or another, the gang knew it would have its pound of flesh

A roving UHub photographer snapped this turkey mob outside 1050 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge today, then scurried away before the feathers flew.

Kudos to the guy who had a cast boot but still riding a bike on Mass Ave 😱

Also to the two truck operators who were unloading cargos on Mass Ave. They didn’t block the bike lane at all (which means they parked in the right car traffic lane) and they stopped what they were doing, and waved me through the bike lane.

gorgeous out today, walked over to #bagelsaurus in #CambridgeMA on #MassAve - line wasn't too bad, got a half dozen savory #bagels and some chive cream cheese - worth the trip. And stopped by a tag sale on #LowellSt on the way over, chatted with a nice neighbor. Good times

Headed to #ComixCon shortly before it wraps up 4ish...Have a great day! ^_^

A friend told me just today, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, that Greg LoPiccolo of the Boston rock band Tribe lives not a great distance from where I am, Brattleboro, Vermont. This brought back a lot of memories. I have also been a fan of one of the siblings, Carlene Barous who was in the Boston band, Din, with another Tribe sibling, Bart LoPiccolo.

Here is a link to a piece about Tribe:

This "Cellars by Starlight" column by Brett Milano includes an article about Din.

The column leads with an article about the Boston band, Apollo Sunshine.

A little hard to read, but here is a Din notice written by the legendary Cowboy Mach Bell for Boston Groupie News.

(Scroll down a short way)

Mach Bell, a writer I admire, was the featured vocalist in one lineup of the Joe Perry Project.

Here is another from Mach Bell and BGN.

(Scroll like crazy)

While doing my own scrolling, I noticed that this CD Review feature includes a disc by Willie Alexander and the Boom Boom Band. One of its tracks, the eerie "Gravelly Hill," has attracted a great deal of attention. It may not make you forget "Mass. Ave;" but then again, what would. Why not give "Gravelly Hill" a spin.

Almost every profile of Tribe ever written has compared them […]

Walking, biking or skateboards are the way to go if your are going down Mass Ave in North Cambridge today with the Red Line shutdown. The shuttle buses seem pretty well used, and have the nice feature that somebody else is driving you. I’m walking faster than the cars this morning. #cambridgema #redline #massave #biketooter
I was walking down Mass Ave this morning and there was a group of school kids and their teachers walking on the other side of the street, going on a field trip of some sort. Every time one of the Red Line replacement busses went by the kids made the "air horn" sign, and periodically one of the busses or trucks would give a toot to big cheers and smiles. #toottoot #cambridgema #massave

Employees and customers are dismayed by losing a Massachusetts Avenue classic that emphasized expert advice and customer service.

My night vision is not getting any better, and the projects to replace water lines just leave their heavy equipment blocking lanes on side streets doesn't help.
Along with the new floating bus stop, which is getting installed by #South #Bay #Mall, on #MassAve which I almost drove up onto. That would have broke something on the car. Damn.

Judge dismisses group's call to undo bike lanes - Cambridge Day

The Tuesday decision found that Cambridge Streets for All hadn’t supported its claims adequately, including that a bike-lane law passed without due process.

I was just reminded of this piece by #Eluvium, “Prelude for the Time Feelers.” First heard it years ago on #CollegeRadio in my car. Came on as I was parking on #MassAve in #CentralSquare to go to the post office. It was like an NPR moment in the driveway but for beautiful #music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuZnS2cNJhc
