Campaña U Jeets’el le Ki’ki kuxtal, an Indigenous Maya group in Mexico, is calling for recognition of the Quintana Roo Genocide against the Maya people. Cancun and Tulum are located in Quintana Roo, which add a level of relevance to folks in the USA. I wish them the best of luck, this recognition is long overdue.

One thing was particularly exciting to me. They ended their communiqué using the Mayan calendar and not the Gregorian calendar! 3 ben, 6 keej, with an epoch of 1850 (so year 172).
