#Sudan ‘s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) and allied militias killed "at least thousands of people" in West Darfur state, an international rights group has said, in what it called apparent "crimes against humanity" and “ #genocide “. Human Rights Watch (#HRW) said that RSF attacks on the #Masalit tribe and other non-Arab groups between April and November 2023 were some of the worst atrocities in the ongoing civil #war which started that April. #Darfur #Africa

#Russia chooses sides in #Sudan

Despite Ukrainian claims, Russia has long remained a pragmatic – rather than "neutral" – actor in Sudan, including during the current civil war. Both Hemedti and Burhan had been careful to keep warm ties with Moscow since 2019, and both have been in business with the former #Wagner PMC (including during the war). A recent independent report pointed to the complicity of Russia/Wagner in the #genocide of the #Masalit by the #RSF in #Darfur.
