Highlighting a Hudson Valley Artist
In America, I think that many of us think of real art as something that is either in a museum, or too expensive to own. This is just not true!! By supporting local artists, many of whom are extraordinarily gifted, everybody can have a piece of art in their home that brings joy, that — as art is intended to do –feeds and elevates the soul. Not all art has to cost an arm and a leg either. Because I’m currently in a show with some very talented creators, I want to highlight some of the work over the next month. I’ve posted about mine in the post below, and now I want to highlight another artist’s work. I”m always astounded by how incredibly talented people are, and in so many different ways.
The work here below is that of Mary Ann Glass. She is a noted Hudson Valley photographer who also does encaustic, pen and ink, acrylic painting, and collage. These pieces, each one 3×5 inches are just lovely. I already bought one myself as it showed the moon and is just perfect for my shrine to Mani and His family. In the ones still available, you can see another moon collage, showing the moon is all its splendor. These are layered, complex, and really quite lovely. Each is a one-of-a kind-original. They’re $35 + 15 for shipping and handling. If anyone is interested, I am gallery sitting today and can process the sale and make sure everything gets mailed out next week.
I mention Mary Ann’s work because that middle piece (I put a small red dot next to it for the photo, so I could more easily point it out) is perfect for a devotee of Mani, Selene, or any of the Moon Gods and Goddesses. It’s got an images within an image if you look closely. It’s a collage that contains worlds, multitudes of meaning and layered images. There’s enchantment in it and small though it may be, it has quite a compelling pull.
I’ll be here for a couple more hours – I’m gallery sitting today — so feel free to email me at krasskova at gmail.com if you’re interested in purchasing any of them. They’re just the right size for almost any shrine.
