I’ve got an entire villain origin story starting at age 5➡️ of how I got into fashion design & the image industry… I can’t stand 99% of the people associated w/it but it is a tool & language to be sure
Things were different 20+ years ago but these days outer image is unfortunately necessary
For ex. I ABHOR LOGOS & especially HATE HATE Louis Vuitton. However happen to own a dis-continued cute baseball shaped one I wear on my jaunts out b/c 1- it’s a great shape/design/function 2- it messes w/people by intimidation
I was never ever a bag person. A paper bag honestly would do. Clothes were definitely my thing tho from craft, fit & #semiotics point of view
It’s sad how #psychology works, but we need all the tools we can get to convince people to #wearADamnMask 🤷🏻♀️
Also, back to the beginning of how much I can’t stand most of the people in this industry.. fashion people had the means, ability & influence to make masks & protecting everyone, including their workers, fashionable!
So much of it depends on socializing & eating, being seen at the right restaurants, flying & buying collections in person. None of this is really necessary to get product into stores but they follow an #outmoded system b/c of lack of imagination. It’s like the blind leading the blind. To wit, the schedule is unsustainable & the very best designers to name a few #JeanPaulGaultier #AnnDemuelemeester #martinmargiela #HelmutLang all quit
