[The Zwan-Wolf effect observed in the #Martian atmosphere! 🧐 ] Discovered in 1976, the Zwan-Wolf effect has been observed for the first time in a planet’s atmosphere—specifically, the ionosphere of #Mars. Data collected by NASA’s #MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution) probe showed that, during a strong solar storm, the numerous #electrically charged particles in the ionosphere underwent #compression and spread out across the Martian atmosphere.
