Took a spin yesterday and came across this Martello Tower in surprisingly good order. It's a Corsican design that was built as a precaution for Napoleon finished in 1817 but wasn't required. With a few more windows I think it would be a perfect house. #martellotower #fortification #architecture #corsican #magilliganpoint #loughswilly

So I didn't see one of the base towers that day, but did visit the Martello Tower at Magilligan.

TGI Fenster Freitag. Two tiny windows in a Martello Tower in Howth. So I guess it’s a bit of a Bloomsday toot too; although it’s a Martello Tower on my side of the city and not Buck Mulligan’s one on the Southside. #FensterFreitag #WindowFriday #FuinneogFriday #Bloomsday2023 #JamesJoyce #Howth #MartelloTower #Window #Ulysses #Dublin #Ireland #Mastodaoine

I went for a little ride down to the docks today because I'd heard there was a tall ship festival. Turns out I'd only half heard, there was one tall ship, a 1930s french fishing boat, and it was a beauty.

During my visit, there was a reading of the diaries of Cranogwen, a Welsh Ship's Captain, and I believe the first female Skipper in Wales.
