Art Forms of Dimensions Tomorrow is an album by the American jazz musician Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra. Often considered the first of Ra's 'outside' recordings, the album was the first to make extensive use of a discovery by the Arkestra's drummer and engineer Tommy Hunter:

'Art Forms of Dimensions Tomorrow.... contained "Cluster of Galaxies" and "Solar Drums", two rhythm section exercises with the sound treated with such strange reverberations that they threatened to obliterate the instruments' identity and turn the music into low-budget musique concrète. While testing the tape recorder when the musicians were tuning up one day, Hunter had discovered that if he recorded with the earphones on, he could run a cable from the output jack back into the input on the recorder and produce massive reverberation:

“the space age is here to stay,
there’s no place you can run away.
Run to the rock to hide your face,
rock cried out ‘no hiding place.’

Marshall Allen interview: “The space age is here to stay, there’s no place you can run away”

A century ago an extraordinary singular human by the name of Marshall Allen was beamed to this planet. He was to go on to become a member of iconic Afro-futurist jazz pioneer Sun Ra’s Arkestra and remains a central figure of the band to this day. Daniel Spicer called him up to discover the secrets of his otherworldly musical life force

Vibrations Of The Day by KonstruKt, Marshall Allen, Hüseyin Ertunç, Barlas Tan Özemek, released on Re:konstruKt in 2011

Ken Waxman wrote for Jazzword in a contemporary review:

"...Vibrations of the Day moves the 87-year-old saxophonist into unfamiliar territory, geographically if not sonically. Although there are also three percussionists and another saxophonist present – along with two guitarists – the six members of KonstruKt are all Turkish with the album recorded in Istanbul. Not only was KonstruKt founded in 2008 to play and record improvised music, but the players, while experienced, are also anywhere from one-half to one-third of Allen’s age. Such is the universal quality of Free Music however, that Allen’s interaction with the six advances without even a sonic hiccup."

#MarshallAllen said if he was doing this for the money, he would have done something else long ago. He's been doing this for almost 70 years now, and will turn 101 next June.

Lol. Qobuz awarded Marshall Allen to be one of their favourite emerging artists. The dude is literally a century old, has been with the Sun Ra Arkestra since the 1950s, as the band's leader since 1995...

The man's a legend.

Nice album btw, his debut solo album New Dawn. Especially love the groove on the last two tracks.
