Farmer and her attorneys allege that an FBI agent she was speaking to hung up on her and that no one at the agency followed up.

"As a result, Epstein and others working with him were able to threaten bodily harm to Maria and her family for decades, forcing her to relocate many times and even change her name," according to the lawsuit. "In the meantime, Epstein exponentially multiplied his sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking of girls and young women."

yahoo news | Epstein Victim Makes Bombshell Claim About Melania Speech

Survivors of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were taken aback on Thursday when First Lady Melania Trump publicly denied any friendship with him and urged Congress to let victims testify under oath. In a brief statement, she said she wanted to “clear my good name” and called for a permanent congressional record of each woman’s testimony. The surprise remarks prompted immediate backlash from survivors such as Marina Lacerda, who accused the first lady of shifting attention away from the ongoing fight for justice and of retraumatizing victims by demanding they relive their abuse in a political arena.

A coalition of Epstein survivors responded with an open letter criticizing the timing and tone of Melania’s comments. They highlighted the incomplete release of the Epstein Files under the Epstein Files Transparency Act—only about half of the estimated six million documents were made public, many with redacted names—calling the first lady’s demand for further testimony a deflection of responsibility. The survivors, including Marina Lacerda, Maria and Anna Farmer, demanded genuine accountability, the full release of remaining records, and a commitment from the Department of Justice and other authorities to protect victims rather than protect powerful allies.

Democratic lawmakers echoed the survivors’ concerns, with House Oversight Committee Chair Melanie Stansbury noting that the push for public hearings has been ongoing for years and that officials such as former Attorney General Pam Bondi have yet to be fully interrogated. While acknowledging Melania’s willingness to weigh in, they stressed that the focus should be on law‑enforcement actions and prosecutorial accountability, not on forcing victims to repeatedly recount their trauma. The article concludes that the controversy underscores a broader “miscarriage of justice” that survivors and some members of Congress say remains unaddressed.

yahoo news | ‘I tried to expose Epstein 20 years ago, but was silenced’

Vicky Ward, the Vanity Fair journalist who wrote the infamous March 2003 profile “The Talented Mr Epstein,” says she first learned about Jeffrey Epstein in late 2002 when editor Graydon Carter called her about a mysterious financier. During her research Ward uncovered early allegations of sexual abuse, most notably the testimonies of artist Maria Farmer and her teenage sister Annie, who described being hired by Epstein, taken to his New Mexico ranch, and subsequently assaulted by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Ward’s draft included their accounts, but the published article reduced them to a single line about Epstein “loving women – lots of them, mostly young,” after pressure from Epstein and the magazine’s leadership.

As Ward pursued the story, Epstein began contacting her repeatedly, offering high‑profile connections and trying to steer the narrative. His former Bear Sterns boss and other powerful friends praised Epstein, and Ward was invited to an off‑the‑record tea at his Upper East Side home, where she observed unsettling décor and sensed that Epstein treated the investigation as a game. When Farmer visited Ward to share more details, Epstein escalated his intimidation, threatening curses on Ward’s unborn twins, promising to sabotage her husband’s career, and hinting at danger for the Farmer sisters. The stress forced Ward into early labor; her twins were born prematurely, and the Farmer sisters were left exposed and subsequently threatened by Maxwell.

Ward maintains that Vanity Fair removed the Farmer sisters’ testimony after a meeting between Carter and Epstein, effectively silencing a crucial exposé. Carter later claimed the meeting was only about a photograph and that the article’s legal team, not Epstein, cut the allegations. Despite the suppression, Ward has continued to speak out, noting that if the full story had been published in 2003, the cascade of abuse by Epstein and Maxwell might have been prevented. She now reflects that history could have been very different had she been allowed to reveal the truth at the time.

"Graydon Carter, who stepped down as editor of Vanity Fair in 2017, claimed that the reasoning behind dropping the women’s stories was because 'there were not three sources on the record, and therefore this aspect of the story did not meet our legal and editorial standards.'”
