Electoral law, chaos in the Committee. Opposition against the majority: “We want to see your new text.”

The discussion in the Constitutional Affairs Committee at the Chamber of Deputies begins in the worst possible way regarding the electoral law reform. And perhaps it couldn’t have gone any worse. At the opening of the proceedings this morning, the opposition parties demanded an accounting for whether a new text from the majority was coming, as learned from the press. Regarding the center-right’s goal of formulating a new electoral law that goes beyond the Rosatellum, Igor Taruffi, the Pd’s organization manager, spoke on Agorà, on RaiTre: “The majority knows perfectly that the game is open, the results of yesterday attest to this. We rightly talk about the capitals of regions, of provinces, but in many municipalities in the province of Naples with 70-80,000 inhabitants – Ercolano, Portici – or of Milan, which are many, the center-left has won by a landslide. And what does that obviously mean? That in those territories, in those constituencies, the center-left will win by a landslide at the next elections, something that the center-right knows, and therefore what does it propose? To remove the single-member constituencies and to change the electoral law, awarding extraordinarily large majority bonuses even to those who take just one more vote. Because they know that with this electoral law they will not return to Palazzo Chigi.”

“Quello che chiediamo da ormai tre anni è che venga interrotto ogni rapporto con Israele, fino ad arrivare all’embargo di armi”. Così Maya Issa, leader e portavoce degli studenti palestinesi in Italia, durante la manifestazione davanti Montecitorio, commenta la giornata che ha visto il governo italiano schierarsi duramente, almeno a parole, nei confronti del governo guidato da Benjamin Netanyahu. “Gli attivisti erano andati lì semplicemente per fare del bene e per aiutare una popolazione disumanizzata – afferma Stefania Ascari del Movimento 5 Stelle – quanto è avvenuto è aberrante. Israele commette crimini contro contro l’umanità ogni giorno”. Mentre Marco Grimaldi di Alleanza Verdi Sinistra sottolinea come il governo meloni tratta “Ben Gvir come se fosse ‘il colono’, come quello a cui dare la singola sanzione, mentre è un ministro di un governo criminale. Non c’è nessuno Stato che si permetterebbe mai di sparare contro un’imbarcazione italiana, non c’è nessuno Stato che con un ministro farebbe, nei confronti di nostri concittadini, quanto ha fatto Ben Gvir. Fosse successo con qualunque altro Stato oggi saremmo in guerra e questo dimostra la complicità che abbiamo avuto fino ad oggi con Israele”.

I deputati delle opposizioni hanno accerchiato i banchi del governo nell’Aula della Camera ‘occupandone’ lo spazio durante la discussione sul decreto Sicurezza, in una votazione sulle pregiudiziali, respinte con 148 no.
“Non potete bloccare i lavori del Parlamento, liberate i banchi del governo”, ha detto il presidente di turno Fabio Rampelli che ha poi espulso il dem Arturo Scotto, seduto proprio sui banchi dell’esecutivo, e sospeso la seduta.
La tensione è stata alle stelle per diversi secondi, con molti deputati di spicco in prima fila tra i quali la capogruppo Pd Chiara Braga, il pentastellato Riccardo Ricciardi, Laura Zanella e Marco Grimaldi di Avs.
Attorno al decreto Sicurezza, da lunedì, si sta giocando una partita legata agli incentivi agli avvocati per la remigrazione dei migranti. Una norma cassata dal Colle, che sta costringendo il governo a un tentativo di correzione in extremis, vista la scadenza dell’intero decreto il prossimo 25 aprile.

Brawl in the Chamber over the Security Decree: the opposition parties occupy the government benches.

The opposition deputies surrounded the government benches in the Chamber of Deputies’ hall, occupying their space during the debate on the Security Decree, a vote rejected with 148 no votes.

“You can’t block parliamentary proceedings, release the government benches,” said presiding officer Fabio Rampelli, who then expelled the Democrat Arturo Scotto, seated directly on the executive benches, and suspended the session.

Tension was at its peak for several seconds, with many prominent deputies in the front row, including Pd group leader Chiara Braga, Five Star’s Riccardo Ricciardi, Laura Zanella and Marco Grimaldi of Avs.
