BMW says manual transmissions may disappear from its M models by 2029. According to M boss Frank van Meel, modern engines produce more torque than manuals can reliably handle. For example, the manual BMW M2 delivers less torque than the automatic version. Current models will keep the gearbox for now, but future high-performance cars are expected to go automatic or electric. ๐๏ธโ๏ธ

Pre-2000s video games didn't need long tutorials. They had printed manuals, for one. And because each player owned only a few games, the player had to spend more time exploring each game. Ease of switching games since then ruined the incentive to persist.
