New Manga Pickup - The end of last week I got an order in. What's that manga?!?

...Pokémon Pocket Comics!

For those who've never read them before, the Pokémon Pocket Comic series are a collection of 4-koma manga that's filled with Pokémon gags. The Black and White issue goes through every new 'Mon in the Unova Pokédex with a goofy gag about each one, with Oshawott serving as a quasi narrator interacting with nearly every 'Mon in the book.

I haven't read the Legendary one yet, but if it's anything like any of the others I've read, it'll be silly and fun, easy to pick up / put down and share with kids.

If you have a kid (or are an adult who is) really into Pokémon, these are fun and worth checking out. Also, each 4-koma set of pages has fun facts about each 'Mon right out of the Pokédex.

Anyway, they're fun and kind of funny.

New Read - Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Volume 6 (Japanese volume 11, Final Volume)

Can I just post the word "squee" over and over again about this volume? No? I need to say more.

Ugh, fine.

Volume 6 (11) is the final part of the story. We have a little bit of Hanako and Taro, but most of this volume is dedicated to Ko / Naoya as well as a lot of Hirotaka / Narumi.

First, Ko and Naoya. They're an adorable, new couple and it opens with them realizing it's real, they're dating. They have just a number of cute, little moments as they adjust from being friends to a couple. Just...so cute.

Then there's Hirotaka / Narumi. We get a flashback chapter where Hirotaka remembers when he first saw Narumi in the office. We get to see that entire situation entirely from his perspective and from how his mind was working at the time. It's so cute as you see that, basically, he's been in love with Narumi the entire time.

Then, she finally just...says it out loud. After slapping a big old kiss on him. Just...SQUEEE!

Sorry, the final volume was, quite possibly, the cutest of the entire series. Glad I read it, but sad to say good bye to these characters.

New Read - Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Volume 5 (Omnibus 5, Japanese volumes 9 and 10)

This set of volumes had two main story arcs happening. First, let's talk about Naoya and Ko. They are just so cute.

Ko keeps avoiding Naoya cause she's afraid of her feelings and that he won't reciprocate. Naoya keeps trying to find her. And then it ends with them admitting they're crushing on each other and holding hands and it's just the cutest thing ever.

The second BIG part of the volume (or two volumes) is the wedding of Hanako and Taro. Hanako wants to cosplay at her wedding because...that's who she is. Taro doesn't want that, but eventually the two really talk about the whole thing and what they want. It's a sweet moment where they both try to compromise with each other as they recognize the wedding isn't just about one of them, but about both of them.

It reminds me of my wedding, a little bit. I had one major opinion on the wedding. I wanted to wear my late Grandfather's bolo tie. And I wanted my two best men wearing bolo ties too. My wife did not like the look of those kind of ties, but knowing how much it meant to me she just rolled with it. Because the wedding is about the two of you coming together. It's a sweet moment for both of you. That's what Taro and Hanako realized.

After the wedding, the two of them have a handful of really cute moments as a married couple. And some aggressive argument moments which, let's be real, they've both admitted throughout that they love. They love being an antagonistic couple. So long as they're happy, who am I to judge.

Overall, sweet volume(s). I'm about to head into the FINAL volume of this series and I don't know if I'm prepared to say goodbye to these characters. I may need to follow it up with a re-watch of the anime...
