There's a silver-lining to falling for corporate bullshit. You may not be the sharpest tool in the shed or any good at your job, but at least you'll worship your boss and enjoy your work.

"Workers who were more susceptible to corporate BS rated their supervisors as more charismatic and “visionary,” but also displayed lower scores on a portion of the study that tested analytic thinking, cognitive reflection and fluid intelligence. Those more receptive to corporate BS also scored significantly worse on a test of effective workplace decision-making. The study found that being more receptive to corporate bullshit was also positively linked to job satisfaction and feeling inspired by company mission statements. Moreover, those who were more likely to fall for corporate BS were also more likely to spread it."

@pvonhellermannn with you on this.

It should be possible to post on #AcademicVenting by anonymising and by using a little poetic licence for literary 'truths' that refer to real people and real situations without all the detail.

Here's mine: I'm familiar with the workings of at least 4 UK unis. #AcademicFreedom across all 4 is seriously compromised.

#ManagementSpeak all sounds the same, same stock phrases out of a textbook, now most-likely AI-generated.

This week's #ManagementSpeak phrase: "You are the CEO of your team!"

Translation: Of course you are no CEO, don't be ridiculous. You can't hire, you can't fire and you don' have budget authority. But we hold you responsible for meeting the project deadlines with set budget, predefined scope and the understaffed team you got.
You can do it, you are a manager!
